Bilingual Foundation of the Arts

The three major core programs of the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts (BFA) are the mainstage productions, the Theater for Youth education program and the Theater for Children education program. These last two programs are distinguished by the age range of students served: Theater for Youth is a program touring in-school presentations to middle and high schools, and the Theater for Children serves elementary schools.  These programs are available to schools in Southern California and are made available by contributions from individuals like yourself.  Donate by clicking on the link above or call 323-225-4044.  Donation can be general or you can choose to sponsor a school.

The large and ever-increasing Hispanic/Latino population in L.A. County is in need of cultural acknowledgement and identity, as well as cultural and arts programming. 

Mainstage Performances

BFA produces four plays each year, which include new works, dramas, classic Spanish theater works, contemporary presentations, comedies, musicals and world premieres. The plays are presented at BFA’s 99-seat theater each year, with one work presented at an alternate location with a larger seating capacity. As well, BFA hosts a new works festival from which one new play is selected for mainstage production consideration. 

Education Programs: Theater for Youth and Theater for Children

As in many cities, Los Angeles suffers from a lack of in-school arts education.  Local schools report a need for programs that immerse students in the appreciation of the arts. Compounding the problem, most arts education programs rely heavily on traditional arts curricula and ignore the significant contributions of Hispanic/Latino artists.
